Shipping Body Butter & Sugar Scrubs
Our all natural body butter is made with pure mango & shea butters with a hint of safflower oil and a touch of arrowroot powder. Mango & shea butter have a melting point between 86 & 90 degrees. During the hotter months, body butter can melt during shipping. When we know that our weather in Texas is going to exceed those temperatures, we do what we can to make sure your butter arrives unmelted by using a cold pack and insulated envelope. If you are unsure whether your butter will be shipped with those precautions, be sure to drop us a note in the additional comments section or during checkout.
If your butter arrives melted, don't worry! It isn't ruined! Simply pour the butter into a small plastic container that will fit the whisk or beaters of your electric handmixer, then throw it in the freezer. After it is frozen, take it out of the freezer and let it come up to room temperature. Finally, use your electric handmixer with the whisk or beater attachment and whip the butter until it is fluffy and shiny. Scoop or pipe back into the container.
If the butter already melted and solidified, scoop out the butter, microwave until melted (30 seconds at a time), then follow the instructions above.
Whipping the butter is not necessary but creates a fluffy, soft texture rather than a more balm-like consistency. If the butter is melted and is allowed to come back to room temperature slowly, the shea butter forms crystals that can feel slightly granular. It can still be used this way as is as long as you like the way it feels because those shea crystals will still melt into your skin. Some people even like it better that way!
Sugar scrubs are made with similar ingredients and the liquid oils can separate when they get warm. You can blend it back together, freeze, let it come back up to room temperature, and whip, or simply stir it back together just before use.
